Rugby at the Clubhouse 2026

Our Clubhouse will be open for showing the forthcoming Scotland Rugby matches. Initially it will be for the first two games. The first game is on Sat 7th February at 2pm. Going forward, if these events are well supported, we will continue showing all of the remaining ones.

Hot pies at half-time and the Club bar open- it will be just like being at the game!

Please email our social convener  – forthcruisingclub.social@gmail.com to signal your intention to attend – and help with ordering enough pies etc.

Report on our Pontoon Party – Saturday 23rd August

Our very first FCC PONTOON PARTY was held on Saturday 23rd August. Following a short Cruise, in Company which departed at 2pm a number of Club boats got together to form the first Yacht Sunflower ever attempted on the River Forth.

Sunflower formed from yachts

After our return to the harbour we rafted up a good number of yachts alongside adjacent to the pontoons and the party began! The club BBQ was in action for anyone wishing to flip a burger and the evening was rounded off under the lights at the end of the pier.

FCC Regatta 26/27th July 2025 Report

The 2025 FCC regatta took place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July.

Well, what a weekend we had at the FCC Regatta. The highlight was having so many visitors from Blackness Yacht Club, especially with several of them joining our Saturday race. We had 14 boats competing and the concerns about the start line proved accurate as it was extremely busy with much yelling and attempts at manoeuvring.

The competitors enjoyed a fine afternoon of racing with a very competent Alan Carter taking on ODD. It was a change to use FYCA handicaps rather than FCC handicaps. The honours for Day 1 went to Pud and Rob. Well done! The traditional Regatta post-racing BBQ was very well attended! (Note: We must all remember to let Erik know our plans BEFORE the event!). The catering just gets better and better, the gazebo, new patio layout and general bonhomie led to another excellent event. The following day saw windier conditions and 5 boats turning out. It proved to be an incredibly closely run race with Liberty coming second to Calloo. With a tie between Louise and Calloo, the overall winner goes to Calloo (and Erik and Katie) as she was the winner of the final race in the two- race competition.

The club boat was also launched and did a marvellous job of supporting Maverick onto the pontoon after an engine failure. The unfortunate collision on Saturday was a reminder that all boat owners should be 100% certain of the terms of their insurance. It is a good idea to rake out the paperwork and see exactly what is covered, and more importantly, what is not covered in the small print!

Driftwood Trophy and BBQ Report

It has been a Goldilocks season for racing so far – too light, too strong but rarely just right. We have had to cancel or rearrange five races so far. The upside of a rearranged Driftwood Trophy on Sunday 29th June, was that we had record numbers at our BBQ, which ironically had been rearranged and fell on a spectacular sailing day! Erik and Katie made sure that weather, music, food and chilled vibes came together for a glorious afternoon. As always Lindsay made sure drinks were served and all in all a good day was had. It was particularly lovely to have some new faces and also to have impromptu catering support in the form of desserts and salads. We even had a sense of drama with the lifeboat appearing although it turned out, thankfully, to be a case of a concerned caller who thought some paddle-boarders might have been in difficulty. They weren’t and were well kitted out and capable so no help required

The Commodore’s Party 2025 Report

The Commodore’s Party was held on Saturday 3rd May this year

A Real Weekend of Fun it was!

The Commodore’s Party had the best possible setting ever this year, taking place in a fresh, modern clubhouse with the bonus of good weather allowing for outside fire pit sitting.

This event is a wonderful chance to catch up with folks before the season gets well underway. It was very well attended and everyone was well fed and well drunk (I’m not sure that is quite what I mean!).

Roger thanked all those involved in the evening preparations but especially he flagged up the many people involved in the clubhouse refurbishment.

The only tiny gnat in the ointment was the scheduling of the 7am start breakfast race for the next morning! However, a hearty breakfast at The Bruce Arms soon sorted that out and one social event flowed into another. It was almost as if we were all 18 again!
